About the Role

Mareeba Shire Council is seeking a dedicated Labourer to join its Construction & Maintenance team based in Dimbulah, QLD. This role offers an opportunity to work in a regional setting with a balanced lifestyle, just an hour from Cairns. As a vital member of our Works team, you will support various road construction and maintenance projects, operating machinery, and performing manual tasks in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute manual labour and road maintenance tasks as part of Council’s Works section.
• Operate mobile plant equipment and adhere to correct manual handling techniques.
• Ensure a safe working environment by following workplace health and safety procedures.
• Maintain physical fitness to handle labor-intensive work in a hot and humid climate.

Qualifications and Skills

• Physical Ability: Capable of sustained manual labour in high-temperature and humid conditions.
• Equipment Proficiency: Skilled in operating plant machinery and vehicles.
• Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safe work practices and manual handling techniques.
• Communication Skills: Proficient in verbal and written communication, with the ability to work under limited supervision.

Requirements

• Eligibility to Work: Only Australian/New Zealand citizens, Australian permanent residents, or candidates with unrestricted work rights in Australia may apply. Visa sponsorship is not available.
• Pre-Employment Medical Check: Completion of a satisfactory pre-employment medical assessment is mandatory.
• Driver’s License: Must hold a valid Australian driver’s license.
