About the Role: Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Farm Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Farm Manager in various aspects of farm operations. Your key responsibilities include:
Livestock Management
- Assisting in feeding, mustering, handling, and health checks of livestock.
- Monitoring stock health and ensuring best animal welfare practices.
- Managing livestock records and ensuring accurate reporting.
Broadacre Cropping Operations
- Participation in seeding, spraying, fertilizing, and harvesting of crops.
- Ensuring paddock maintenance and overseeing crop health.
- Monitoring and adjusting irrigation practices as needed.
Machinery Operation & Maintenance
- Operating modern farm machinery, including tractors, sprayers, and harvesters.
- Performing routine servicing and maintenance of farm equipment.
- Troubleshooting minor mechanical issues and assisting with repairs.
Leadership & Training
- Assisting with mentoring and training junior staff in farm operations.
- Ensuring adherence to best farming practices and safety regulations.
- Leading by example to maintain a strong work ethic within the team.
Safety & Compliance
- Implementing and maintaining workplace safety standards.
- Ensuring compliance with OH&S/WHS regulations.
- Keeping up-to-date records of safety procedures and incidents.
What We’re Looking For
To excel in this role, you should have:
- At least 5 years of farm operations experience, specifically in broadacre cropping and livestock management.
- Strong knowledge of modern farming machinery and equipment.
- Leadership and communication skills to train and support junior team members.
- A proactive, safety-conscious, and problem-solving attitude.
- Ability to work independently and within a team during peak seasons.
Qualifications & Licenses
- Full Driver’s License (Essential).
- AQF 3 Chemical Accreditation (ChemCERT).
- Tertiary qualification in Agriculture (Desirable but not mandatory).
- Experience with GPS and precision farming technology (Preferred).
- Heavy Vehicle Driver’s License (Preferred but not required).
Work Conditions & Environment
As a Senior Farm Worker, you will work in an outdoor setting with varying weather conditions. The role involves physical labor, including lifting, bending, and machinery operation. Extended hours may be required during peak seasons such as seeding and harvesting. Compliance with workplace health and safety standards is a must.
